2. Barack & Michelle Obama

For a price, Second Life users can now cavort in avatars which are close to being dead ringers for the President and First Lady. New World Notes reports that a very realistic Michelle Obama avatar has just been completed, while the Barack Obama avatar has been available for some time. Other popular avatars based on real-life figures are Italian President Silvio Berlusconi and Chinese actress Gong Li.

In real world, the President, the First Lady and some other famous people are far away from us. But in Second Life, the situation is different. The company even can make use of the President's fame o bring their game lots of players. COOL!

3. Second Life Raise Money...

This weekend, saw the main event of the Second Life Relay for Life, raising funds for the American Cancer Society for cancer research. The exact figure raised for cancer research by Second Life users is a bit hazy, being reported slightly differently from multiple sources, but the American Cancer Society is reporting that the contributed amount is a very exciting US$270,388.

Maybe Second Life has too much negative news. They need to do something to improve their reputation. Why do they choose American Cancer Society？

4. World of Warcraft Movie

Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man, Drag Me To Hell) is to direct Blizzard's upcoming live-action Warcraft film, assuming Ain't It Cool News is to believed. Blizzard has confirmed this is true..

The story takes place about a year before World of Warcraft begins and really is a number of main plot points kind of rolled into a really strong two, two and a half hour tale...thematically it's about cultures and conflict. World of Warcraft film, are you looking forward to it?

5. Go to the Parliament!

They have mostly gone unexplained and that is the reason the Government decided to step in. Different local governments in Germany have decided to BAN all "killer" games at LAN events. This sadly has lead to the cancellation of multiple ESL Friday Night games, and it has now claimed the Convention-X-Treme tournament.

Now that the petition against a ban on all violent video games in Germany has surpassed 50,000 signatures, the petition should be heard on the floor of the German parliament.

6. From EA to Blizzard

Activision has confirmed that it has hired two executives from EA’s Visceral Games development studio. Visceral Games’ general manager, Glen Schofield, and COO, Michael Condrey, have reportedly jumped ship to join a new Activision development studio in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The news between EA and Blizzard would never be less. Yesterday I grabbed your game designer, but today your department manager jumps your ship to mine.

7. Diablo Designer

Previous attempts at adapting the Mavel Comics license into an MMORPG have been less than successful, but Gazillion Entertainment's Marvel Universe MMO looks to be picking up steam. Gazillion just announced that they've appointed Flagship veteran and former Blizzard North president David Brevik as the new studio director of Gargantuan -- the team currently working on Marvel Universe.

I don’t care about David Brevik’ whereabouts at all! I’m only concerned about Diablo3 whereabouts!

8. Death of PC Gaming

Tales of PC gaming's death have been greatly exaggerated
We take a step to the world stage. 13 Billion dollars is the entire PC games market in 2008. In terms of the split, Chart Track [a UK-based market retail firm] believes 24% is retail, 46% online revenue services (i.e. Subscriptions, micro-transactions), 22% is digital distribution and 8% is ad-revenue...All this compares to 32 billion dollars from all console sales.

9. Blow People Away

Epic's Unreal Engine 3 has been used in games of every genre, but not everydeveloper is as talented with the software as Epic themselves. The company has now revealed that new features to be added to the engine in the near future will "blow people away".

I just hope that U3 wouldn’t blow my computer away...

10. 5% of SOE

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that it is to lay off 41 full-time employees, which equals five percent of its San Diego-based workforce. The company cited cost reduction and increased operational efficiency as the reasons behind the decision.

Whether will it bring SOE the expected effect or not? Let’s wait for the result.
