31-7-2009 Game News : Metal Slug Zero Online Development Suspense
According to the insiders, WIZ HANDS and DragonFly have suspended their development plan for Metal Slug Zero Online this June, and currently they don't have any plan for continuing their development.
DragonFly is discussing the future development of this project with Japan-based SNK, the copyright owner of Metal Slug Zero, considering various proposals such as developing the game directly by DragonFly. But no matter which proposal is finally adopted, there is no hope for players to witness the launch of this game within the year.
According to a source from DragonFly, the reason why they suspended the development is that the achievement of Metal Slug Zero Online being developed by WIZ HANDS is far below their expectation, and this game could not conform to the trend of current gaming industry.
But another voice said the development did not come to a full stop. The company is under negotiation with SNK, but no official decision has been made yet. They will unveil the development schedule for this project soon.
Because of the abortion of Metal Slug Zero Online this year, DragonFly is not able to publish other MMOs except Karma 2. DragonFly scheduled to commercially launch Metal Slug Zero Online this August and start the open beta of Special Forces 2 in the second half of 2009 in Korea. But according to the insiders, the development of Special Forces 2 has also been delayed and can not enter closed beta in Korea this year. However, another new MMOFPS, Quake Wars Online, is expected to launch closed beta in Korea within this year. In addition, another two new MMOs, KIOF Online and Samurai Shodown Online, originating from SNK's KOF and Samurai Shodown, are expected to launch their first test early next year in Korea.
